Stay vigilant and aware urges the council following reports of bogus callers in Bonhill.

West Dunbartonshire Council had reports of cold callers making there way around the area claiming to work for them, asking about abandoned tenancy yesterday, Wednesday October 2.

The council confirmed that no members of their staff were present in these areas and asked the public to stay vigilant and aware.

This comes after police appeal for information regarding two bogus caller incidents in Alexandria last week, Wednesday September 25.

Between 12.15 and 12.30pm on last Wednesday afternoon, two men claiming to be workmen visited a house in Steven Street and a house in Bannachra Crescent, where they asked the occupants about their drains being checked.

The two suspects left each of the addresses after being challenged.

Although nothing was stolen, police are keen to identify the men.

They are described as being both aged between 50 – 65 years old and of stock build wearing dark-coloured clothing and fluorescent yellow vests. One of the men wore glasses.

If you believe to have been contacted by these people in the last few days this should be reported to Trading Standards by emailing trading.standards@west-dunbarton.gov.uk or the Police can also be notified via 101 but in an emergency people should always call 999.
