A WOMAN has been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly crashing into two cars while under the influence of alcohol.

Police received reports on September 27 of a Renault Clio allegedly colliding with another vehicle in Helensburgh, while other calls had reported the same vehicle being driven recklessly shortly before the accident.

Several emergency service crews attended after it was reported that the female driver of the car had failed to stop following the collision and it was feared that she may be under the influence of alcohol, and a clear danger to other road users and pedestrians.

Police later received a further call reporting that the same car had collided with a second vehicle on the A82 between Balloch and Dumbarton and officers intercepted the woman at Bowling to find her car substantially damaged.

The 40-year-old driver was arrested for alleged drink driving and taken to Clydebank police station where she was charged with the offence as well as two counts of alleged dangerous driving and failing to stop after being involved in an accident.

The woman will appear at court later this month.
