Dumbarton’s own brewery has won a national award.
Lennox Brewery, based in Lime Road, was recognised in the SIBA Scotland Independent Beer Awards.
The annual contest, which receives hundreds of entries from breweries around the country, was held in Dreghorn last week. The brewery was awarded silver for its Cranachan Ale, a unique recipe inspired by the Scottish dessert.
The light ale, flavoured with oats, raspberries and honey from the brewery’s own beehives, picked up the award in the “Bottle/Can Speciality Light Beers” category.
Director Iain McLaren, who is also a local councillor, said:“I’m delighted the Cranachan Ale has been recognised. It was up against some really great competition, but we think it is quite special.”
