A DRUG dealer will be assessed as to whether he’s suitable for a court order to treat his addiction.

Andrew Brown was caught by police at his then home in Back Street, Renton, when they turned up with a search warrant on February 27 this year.

The 41-year-old was found to have a wrap containing brown powder in a bedroom of the property.

Police also found a notepad with numbers, a quantity of mixed notes totalling £285, a quantity of bags with the corners cut off, a set of scales, and more bags in the kitchen.

The brown powder was confirmed as heroin weighting 15.4g and worth an estimated £830. Analysis considered this “excessive for personal use”, heard Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week.

Brown later pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of diamorphine.

Defence solicitor Mark Chambers said his client “has had a very difficult time” recently.

He added: “He is desperate to address his difficulties.”

Sheriff Frances McCartney told Brown, now of Tontine Park, she was calling for a drug treatment and testing assessment, and deferred sentence until November 22.
