A CHILDREN’S charity has appointed a new chief executive.
Former Scottish Labour spin doctor, Rami Okasha, will step up to the role with CHAS in January.
The move comes after Maria McGill took the decision to step down as boss of the children’ charity.
Rami, 40, is currently director of transformation and innovation at CHAS.
He told the Reporter it is an “extraordinary honour”.
Rami added: “CHAS is a truly magical organisation that supports children and families going through the hardest of times.
“Three children a week die from a life-shortening condition in Scotland, and CHAS wants to be there for all of them. Our mission is to keep the joy alive for even more families across Scotland.”
CHAS runs Robin House in Balloch, which offers help and support to young people with life-shortening conditions, and their families.
It was established over 20 years ago, and has helped more than 16,000 youngsters.
George Reid, CHAS chairman, said: “I am personally delighted, and know that Rami will continue to ensure that CHAS works effectively with all of its partners across Scotland.”
