Crowds were schooled in the art of witchcraft and wizardry during a theatrical Hallowe’en performance at Geilston Gardens.
Actors from social enterprise the Walking Theatre Company guided the audience through the Cardross garden with magical performances in their show The Really Wicked School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Sadie Dixon-Spain, writer in residence and founding member of the troupe, told the Reporter: “The audience meet the first character, Mandy the Mad, who is a trainee witch at a magic school.
“The audience are also at the school, learning all about good and bad magic.”
But they are under threat as Geilston Garden has called in a witch-catcher to deal with the magical “infestation”.
Fortunately, Nigel the ninja witch-hunter is inexperienced and has never met a witch.
As the journey continues, the group come across the third character - Donald the Demented.
Donald likes playing with bad magic and “turning naughty people into slugs”.
But Mandy and the audience show Donald that you can be magical and good. And Nigel realises he is surrounded by witches. Thankfully, everyone joins in to teach him magic is fun.
Alison Farrell, head gardener, said: “The Witchy Walk was just about sold out.
“It was really good, with everybody taking part in the interactive performance.”
Sadie added: “It’s the most beautiful setting, is great for an adventure, and we’ll be back.”
