SCHOOL pupils have been caught on video throwing pumpkins off a flyover to the danger of traffic below.

Dashcam footage of the act in Alexandria was captured by a driver who narrowly missed being hit by a piece of the heavy fruit.

The sound of the pumpkin hitting the roof of the vehicle can be heard in the video, which was taken on Thursday.

The footage has been shared online and the behaviour has been blasted as “shocking” and “dangerous”.

Kathleen Buchanan said: “Ohhhhh... that’s awful... doing that...”

Linda Jane Baldi added: “Idiots I am sure whatever school they belong will be proud.”

And Helen Mcginty said: “First class clown.”

The figures in the video are clearly of school age, however it is unclear which education facility they attend.

A spokeswoman for West Dunbartonshire Council said: “We are shocked and disappointed that any young person would take part in such a reckless act.

“We will not accept this type of irresponsible behaviour and we would urge parents and carers to speak to their children to raise awareness and highlight the danger and the potential consequences.

“We would urge anyone with information on those responsible to contact the police.”
