Loch Lomond’s second team fell to a 4-1 defeat away to a fast, fit and organised Glasgow University fifth XI last Saturday.

The visitors fielded a strong squad and started well, all giving 100 per cent and staying strong in defence, but reached half time 1-0 down.

After regrouping at half time Loch Lomond came out and equalised within minutes thanks to a great shot on target by striker Gillian Finch – but a slight lapse in concentration saw the opposition regain the lead almost immediately.

There was some fabulous play in the middle of the pitch from Alanna and Eilidh Hill, which was hard for the opposition to deal with at times, while Jenny Tripney had some great play on her return to the squad, teaming up well with Jenna Gallacher in midfield.

Loch Lomond managed to hold their hosts back until the final 15 minutes, when the students scored two goals in quick succession to pull clear of their visitors.

This was the team’s toughest test yet, but Loch Lomond will be eager to learn from it and get back to winning ways this week.
