CALUM KENNEDY teamed up with substitute Alistair Cairns to top the standings in the latest round of Helensburgh Golf Club’s Tennents Winter League tournament on Sunday.
Kennedy and Cairns posted an outstanding total of 48 stableford points to finish three clear of their nearest challengers, runners-up John MacMillan and Jack Cairns.
Sunday’s field for the fifth week of this year’s competition comprised 96 golfers, among them 11 substitutes covering for unavailable ‘regular’ players.
In conditions which, on the whole, were dry and benign, some excellent scores were recorded, with Kennedy and Cairns the best of the 23 pairs who returned scores of 40 or more stableford points.

This week’s eclectic scores were topped by two pairs – Calum Kennedy and his son Scott, and Dougie Singleton and John Gallacher, both of whom boasted totals of 55 points.
