A ROAD crash has caused serious disruption to traffic in and out of Dumbarton this morning.

After closing for around an hour, the A82 southbound is now reopen at the Barloan Roundabout, Milton, following the accident at around 7am.

Traffic Scotland posted on Twitter at 9.10am: "#A82 at Milton, carriageway no CLEAR- all lanes running Delays remain both ways and will take a while to ease. #Delays @ScotTranserv"

It is understood a white Fiesta car, which was heading towards Dumbarton, drove into coming traffic.

The car collided with an oncoming vehicle heading in the direction of Milton, near Whyte Corner.

As well as commuters, the incident will impact school transport.

West Dunbartonshire Council posted on social media: "This morning’s RTC at Milton will have a knock on affect on school transport.

"Please note pick up times and arrival times are likely to be impacted."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said three fire crews responded and hydraulic cutting equipment was used to safely assist one casualty from one of the vehicles.

They added: “This casualty was thereafter passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“A second casualty, who had self-extricated prior to our arrival, was also passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and transported to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital.

“Crews left the scene at 8.12am.”
