IT'S the bestselling calendar that each year showcases some great images from our huge photo archive.

The 2020 edition of the Evening Times's Times Past calendar is now on sale - and if previous years' issues are any indication, it will sell out very quickly.

The new version covers everything from street scenes to children at play, from a Sauchiehall Street festival in 1970 to the 1938 Empire Exhibition at Bellahouston Park.

There are pictures of Christmas decorations in the city, of pantos, of a couple relaxing on a bench amidst soaring temperatures, and of a mobile tuck-shop that is the centre of attention in a Glasgow hospital in 1960.

As the Evening Times editor Callum Baird says in his introduction in the calendar: "The images are, as ever, an evocative slice of life in the West of Scotland ... The memories stirred by the photographs ensure that the calendar is a big hit at home as well as with Scots now living abroad".

He added: "Just a glance at the pictures on these pages is evidence that the Evening Times has always prided itself on its photography. Our photographers have always had a great eye for the offbeat and the telling detail.

“And because the images in the calendar are, in many cases, decades old, they appeal to people who love to take a wander down memory lane.”

As with previous years, fifty per cent of profits from the calendar will be divided equally between two great causes.

This year's beneficiaries will be Alzheimer Scotland (www.alzscot.org) and Glasgow’s Golden Generation (www.glasgowgg.org.uk).
