WEST on the Green are launching 'Vegan Wednesdays' this week, a vegan food night with a menu of plant based dishes.

Having recently hired a new executive chef Joanne Munro, Glasgow's independent brewery and beerhall will launch the Vegan menu for the start of the Christmas period which will change weekly.

She said:

“I am really excited about this menu.

"Vegan diners will have the choice from a variety of small plates such as Cauliwurst with sauerkraut, pumpkin pancakes with a chilli maple dressing, beetroot bahji’s and Haggis bon-bons to name a few.

"Plus hearty mains. Bizarrely, I am probably most thrilled with our new vegan Strudel.

"Finally our vegan diners will be able to try the dessert that’s been a WEST favourite since we first opened in 2006.

“And, of course, all dishes will be washed down with the perfect vegan pint!”

Established in Glasgow in 2006, WEST are the only UK brewery to brew all of its artisan lagers and ales in strict accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516.

This law prescribes that only water, malt, hops and yeast can be used to brew beer and excludes the use of any additional ingredients, as well as the use of finings, like isinglass which is derived from the swim bladders of fish. All WEST's beers are vegan friendly.

WEST’s Bavaria-born founder Petra Wetzel adds:

“It is always important to innovate and to provide as inclusive a menu as possible that has a wide appeal to all taste buds.

"There is an increased appetite for great vegan food and its exciting for us to keep re-inventing ourselves and offering new dishes that pair with our full range of delicious beers."
