A BALLOCH care home has improved its performance, a care inspectorate report has revealed.

In 2018, the local authority agreed to monitor Sunningdale Care Home, on Mollanbowie Road, after their inspectorate grades dropped.

They have improved from “adequate” in leadership, care and support and setting to very good in the first two themes and good for setting. Supporting people’s wellbeing also increased from good to very good.

The report was discussed at the health and social care partnership audit committee last week.

Jo Gibson, head of health and community care, said: “Sunningdale is owned and managed by I & S Scotcare Ltd, who operate this single care home. There is space for 17 residents and there are currently 11 staying at the moment.

“An inspection was carried out in September which showed improvement across all categories.”

In April 2018, the Scottish Government published a new health and social care standards for assessing registered care services. They continued to use the six-point scale of one – unsatisfactory ,to six – excellent.

Elsewhere, Edinbarnet Nursing Home, which sits at Cochno Road, Clydebank, continued to maintain the high grades they have received since 2009.

In August this year, Edinbarnet was awarded a grade 5 – “very good” in their performance to support people’s wellbeing and planning care and support. They were also awarded a grade 4 “good” for setting.

Ms Gibson added: “This report covers two independent care homes in West Dunbartonshire.

“Edenbarnet Nursing Home is managed by Edinbarnet Estates Ltd who operate this single care home.

“There is space for a maximum of 50 residents and there were 30 people living there in November.

“They have received “good” and “very good” in their inspection which shows they are continuing their high standard.”
