Staff and volunteers from a children’s hospice in Balloch are offering shoppers the chance to have their Christmas presents wrapped to help raise funds.

The Christmas wrapping stand officially opened last Thursday, and to help get shoppers in the festive spirit, a choir made up of staff, volunteers and children from Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) sang Christmas carols at the intu Braehead stand.

Scottish singer, songwriter Horse McDonald also made a guest appearance, helping the choir to entertain the crowd.

Then dancers from What’s the Pointe Dance Group, a non-profit group from Renfrew, made a surprise appearance and treated shoppers to a flash mob dance.

Maxine Campbell, community fundraiser from CHAS, said: “We’re thrilled to be back at intu Braehead following the success of last year’s first ever Christmas wrapping stand. It’s been a great opening day with our wonderful choir and the amazing flash mob dance. We’re hoping to wrap lots of presents over the next few weeks and raise even more money than last year.”

The team from CHAS will be at intu Braehead in the upper section of the mall, until Monday, December 23 and money raised from the event will help the charity support children and young people across Scotland with life-shortening conditions.

Throughout December CHAS will be celebrating Christmas early in their two hospices, Robin House in Balloch and Rachel House in Kinross, to help keep the joy alive for children and families in their care. The charity is committed to making sure that no matter how little time those families may have together, it is filled with happiness and fun.

CHAS is the only charity in Scotland that provides hospice services for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. The national charity offers palliative care and respite for the whole family via its two hospices and via its CHAS at Home service, which supports families in their own homes across the whole of Scotland, and through its increasing presence in hospitals across Scotland.
