DUMBARTON’S Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is appealing for new volunteers to help others in the community.

The charity said they want to train new advisers willing to commit an average of six hours each week.

Joe McCormack, CEO of West Dunbartonshire CAB, said volunteers come from all backgrounds but share the skills of being good listeners, working well in teams, and being open minded to other people and their circumstances. Some IT skills and wanting to make a difference also help.

He said: “It’s stimulating, interesting and very worthwhile. Volunteering with your CAB might just be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.

“Trained volunteers have always been the lifeblood of our service, ordinary people who devote just a few hours of their time each week to help others in their local community.”

Mr McCormack said the position would be ideal to older people, house-parents during school hours, students and young people, or unemployed residents looking to acquire new skills.

A basic training programme will be running at the end of January, and anyone interested in volunteering can contact Natalie@wdcab.co.uk or 01389 717174, or apply online at wdcab.co.uk/volunteer/.
