NOMINATIONS are now open for West Dunbartonshire Council’s Employee Recognition Awards, and residents of Dumbarton and the Vale are being asked to choose their favourite hardworking employees.

As well as honouring the people who have made an outstanding contribution to the community, the local authority would like to find out what makes those being nominated so exceptional, and what it is they do that goes above and beyond.

Last year’s Employee of the Year was recognised for her “professional, fun and engaging personality” as she helps residents, visitors and staff during nearly two decades at the front of house in the council's offices.

Each of this year’s nominees will receive a personal letter from chief executive Joyce White, and those shortlisted will be invited along to a presentation in Clydebank Town Hall on Tuesday, March 24.

Categories will include Team of the Year, Employee of the Year, Young Ambassador of the Year and the Communities Award.

Councillor Iain McLaren, vice convenor of corporate services, said: “I’d urge anyone who has been grateful for the hard work of an employee to please consider nominating that person so we can properly celebrate them.

“We know we have many dedicated employees who are a credit to the council in so many different areas, from home care visits to street cleaning, and these members of staff often go above and beyond what is expected.

“The Employee Awards are about recognising those efforts and letting our employees know how valued they are. Many of these people are unsung heroes, who work tirelessly under the radar, making improvements for residents, so it is important for us to say thank you.”

You can nominate your favourite employee at www.wdcawards.co.uk by filling in the online form. The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 14.
