Homes at the Dumbarton Harbour development are set to be handed over to tenants from April, the Reporter can reveal.

The highly-anticipated development is bringing regeneration and much needed new housing for rent to the town.

Some 200 new homes are being built, with 150 of them being flats.

The development is being constructed on behalf of Dunbritton Housing Association.

Allan Murphy, chief executive officer, said the homes are set to be completed by June, but that the housing association hopes to be handing over the first sets of keys to tenants in April.

Allan said: “We are delighted to report that working in partnership with Cullross Ltd and Marshall Construction Ltd we are nearing completion on our most recent development of new-build houses at Dumbarton Harbour. This exciting development is well under way and we’re looking forward to seeing 150 new homes for rent being handed over to the association by June 2020. We envisage the homes will be handed over on a phased basis from April.

“Our well-established relationships with West Dunbartonshire Council, the Scottish Government and the Bank of Scotland enables us to take advantage of opportunities and deliver high-quality homes at affordable rents for people across our wide area of operation.”

The state-of-the-art homes offer stunning views across the River Clyde, as well as of Dumbarton Rock.

And they are set to save tenants cash as they are extremely energy efficient.

Alan continued: “New homes are a key element of the ongoing regeneration of our communities and we’re happy to be part of making Dumbarton a place where people are proud to live.

“We’re proud to be able to provide energy efficient new homes that comply with the industry standards in a stunning location with superb views across the River Clyde and beyond.”

Although a number of homes have been previously allocated, there are a few that are yet to be snapped up.

Allan added: “We have recently commenced the allocation process, but potential tenants still have time if they wish to apply for these prestigious properties.

“To apply please visit homeargyll.co.uk or Dunbritton.org.uk.”

By the time residents get their keys, the new Lidl should have opened up next door.
