STORM Ciara wreaked havoc across Dumbarton and the Vale over the last few days, with a Met Office Yellow Warning for wind, snow and ice still in effect.
Dumbarton High Street has been closed to all traffic - except for emergency vehicles, West Dunbartonshire Council announced this afternoon. A section of the high street is also closed to pedestrians on the west side, near the Artizan Shopping Centre.
The wild weather battered the country over the weekend and will continue to do so with 50 mph winds expected until Thursday.
Fortunately, rail services in the area haven’t been heavily affected so far today, however travellers are advised to continuously check for any updates concerning delays or cancellations.
Earlier today, police confirmed the death of a 77-year-old pensioner in Clydebank after he suffered a fall in the street and banged his head during the snowy conditions.
And closer to home, the river Leven burst its banks and flooded the car park at Dumbarton Quay over the weekend.
