Dumbarton High Street is set to re-open on March 2 after storm weather forced it to close.

A chimney was deemed dangerous on February 10 after Storm Ciara battered the area, resulting in the closure of the High Street to vehicles for 21 days.

West Dunbartonshire Council has confirmed work has been under-taken to remove one of two chimneys causing the closure. A structural engineer has identified the second chimney will need to be removed this week.

A spokeswoman for the council said: “Weather dependent, the remaining chimney will be removed with the closure of the high street in place until work is complete.”
