Dumbarton is set to welcome an ice cream parlour inspired by American rapper Biggie Smalls.

Biggie Scoopz will serve ice-cream, fruit creations, waffles, cupcakes and milkshakes using ingredients from local businesses to support the community.

The man behind the dessert idea James Samain has been working hard for the last few months to make this dream a reality.

He said: “Since moving to the west from Edinburgh, the community has welcomed me with open arms, so it is really important that the shop is all about giving back and helping the local community where possible.”

James has been inspired by the increasing number of dessert shops across the country and feels this is a market that Dumbarton is lacking.

The Biggie-inspired shop will be located on Cardross Road near Dalreoch train station, the former site of King Cone ice cream parlour.

The Hip-Hop artist known for best song Juicy – also known as The Notorious B.I.G. – was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in 1997. He was aged 24.

To this day, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Biggie Scoopz will open its doors to the public on Monday, March 30 at 3pm.

On the opening week, there will be hidden stickers on random cups and tubs with prizes for small local businesses in the area.

The opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 3pm to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 10pm. For more information visit their Facebook page.
