Dumbarton residents have been invited to a public event next week to examine plans to build 71 new homes on a former secondary school site at Hawthornhill Road.

Persimmon Homes West Scotland is actively encouraging members of the community to get involved in an open discussion and offer their feedback at the event taking place at West Kirk Church Hall on Wednesday, March 25, between 2 – 7pm.

A proposal of application notice was submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council on February 6 outlining plans to transform the seven-acre land where Our Lady and St Patrick’s Secondary School previously stood.

The £10 million development proposals include a range of two-bedroomed terraces, four-bedroomed detached houses and landscaping features that will retain an existing sports pitch.

Doug Law, regional managing director for Persimmon Homes in Scotland, said: “We are keen to share these plans, they mark a first step back into West Dunbartonshire for more than six years and the event provides the opportunity to view and discuss our proposals.

“As with all Persimmon sites in the West of Scotland the development has a wide variety of house types which we hope will appeal to a range of potential purchasers.”
