ONLY general waste bins will be collected across Dumbarton and the Vale during the coronavirus lockdown.

West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) have apologised to residents for any bins that have been missed this week.

The local authority also provided an update.

WDC said: "From Monday, March 30, we’re going to collect general waste (grey/green/black) bins only and these will be collected weekly rather than fortnightly.

"All residents should present their household (grey/green/black) bin each week on the usual collection day.

"As the service is moving to weekly, additional bags will not be required or uplifted.

"There will be no recycling collection during this period so please do not present blue or brown bins with the exception of missed bins which will be uplifted next week."

The council went on to say: "We would like to sincerely apologise to any resident whose bins have been missed this week, and thank you all for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented situation.

"Our resources have been impacted by Covid-19 and the measures put in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

"We have been trying to continue to maintain brown, grey and blue collections as normal but this has been really difficult."
