A NEW trial date has been set for a man accused of the alleged rapes of two women over the course of six years.

David Millard will appear before a jury at the High Court starting on October 5 after a motion to adjourn the trial earlier this month.

The 37-year-old denies a charge of assaulting a woman at properties in Airdrie, Helensburgh, Rosneath and Cove between March 2011 and November 2014, including attempting to throw a TV at her, forcing her head into a urine soaked rug, striking her on the body with a baton and spitting on her face.

He is also alleged to have shouted, swore, behaved aggressively, damaged furniture, urinated on the floor, walls and furniture, and sent threatening and abusive messages to the woman between the same dates at the same properties and also in Clydebank and Dumbarton.

In August 2011, he is alleged to have exposed two children to unnecessary suffering or injury by consuming drugs in their presence while caring for them.

Mr Millard, of George Street, Alexandria, is also charged with raping the woman at a property in Helensburgh between January and May 2012, and at a home in Rosneath in November 2012 where he also repeatedly forced food into her mouth, restricting her breathing.

On various occasions between November 2012 and April 2014, at homes in Rosneath and Cove, he is alleged to have raped the woman, made threats and struck her on the head with a baton.

In January 2014, again in Rosneath, he is charged with raping the same woman.

Between April 2016 and January 2017, Mr Millard is charged with raping a second woman at a property in Dumbarton.

He is also alleged to have raped her in July 2016 at the same property, and on various occasions between July and August 2016 at the same property.

Mr Millard denies all the charges and his bail was continued.
