A small Dumbarton coffee company have teamed up with a group of small food and drink businesses across Glasgow to launch a website delivery service.

Pure Roasters Coffee has joined up with Paisley Drinks Company who are leading the website to create a new way of reaching and engaging with customers during this current crisis.

The coffee company based in the Vale of Leven Industrial Estate started off as a coffee shop before entering their first year of roasting and blending coffee.

Robert McKain, Food and Beverage Manager for Pure Roasters said: “We found speciality coffee could focus on the wrong things like single origin or unusual flavour characteristics. We only ever focus on making a nice tasting cuppa which seems simples but it works.

“People are shopping locally now with supermarket deliveries taking longer to book. We are providing high quality at around the same cost so everyone is a winner.”

The website will provide a range of products from local independent business across Glasgow that will offer customers new flavours and experiences for supporting local.

Pure Roasters use ethically sourced beans to create the perfect flavours by getting feedback from the customers on each blend and package their products with no single use plastic.

Brian O’Shea, founder of soft drinks producer Paisley Drinks Co stated that 90 per cent of their customer base was lost almost overnight, he said: “We knew we were not alone. So, we reached out to other local businesses to see if we could team up to provide a service that would help you all through the long hours of isolation.”

Other businesses on the website will include Nut Shack, Alba Cola and Pakora Explorer.

Brian added: “It’s been great collaborating with some of my favourite Scottish Brands.

Jordan Leroy, 22 born in Dumbarton but now lives in Paisley has supported Pure Roasters Coffee since it opened its door last year. He understands the struggles small businesses are facing during the pandemic, as he is the co-director of online clothing store Niyama.

He said: “I always try to support small independent businesses over large chains because it makes a difference. I have always loved Pure Roasters coffee since my friend introduced me to them.

“I moved to Paisley to start up my own business after leaving university and I found it difficult to find time to travel back to Dumbarton to pick up a bag of coffee.

“Their coffee is just totally different to other companies because it feels more like home with their packaging.”
