Young footie enthusiasts in Renton are feeling flushed with success after a kick-about with a difference.

For instead of a ball, the youngsters used a toilet roll - and their antics were caught on video.

The game-for-laugh kids who play for Renton Craigandro 2009s took up the challenge after one of the mums, Donna Melvin, suggested it would be a fun thing to do as it has been weeks since they played together.

The idea was seized upon by coach Thomas Hegarty who got each youngster's parent to film them in the safe surroundings of their homes and gardens.

Thomas then stitched all the videos together and incorporated the 'Match of the Day' theme as the soundtrack.

Thomas's wife Laura, who arranges fundraising and admin for the team, told the Reporter: "The team had not played together or done any training since March 13.

"Normally, they train twice a week at Tontine Park in Renton and have a game on a Saturday but that had to stop.

"They all enjoyed taking part in and they loved seeing the video.

"We think it turned out out very well."

In total, 19 players, two mums and one wee sister took part, as did Thomas's cousin Debbie, who is a team coach.

Pictured here are coach Thomas and some of the youngsters as they appear on the video.
