An Ardrossan flute band have set themselves a challenge in order to fundraise for local care homes.

The Ardrossan Winton Flute Band have set up an online Just Giving page to raise a superb £1000 for the cause.

And in the process, they’ve set their members the task of walking a collective 15 million steps before July 12.

The flute band’s members started the challenge last week on Monday, April 20 and so far, at the time of writing, they are well on their way to reaching their target.

An impressive £422 has already been raised as part of the challenge.

A band spokesperson said: “We are looking to complete this challenge and raise some funds for the local care homes.

“Each member will provide their total weekly steps at the end of each week. Then every Monday we will provide a update of the progress.

“We have set a target of raising £1000 to give to the local care homes. All donations towards this would be greatly appreciated. All of our members will be adhering to all government restrictions, only leaving our homes for one hour exercise per day and remaining two meters away from anyone else apart from those you live with.

“Please donate and help us reach the target.”
