POLICE are appealing for information following a "suspicious" fire at a house in Alexandria last night.

Cops received a report of a fire at a property in the town's Main Street at around 9.54pm on Monday.

The blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, nobody was injured and the house was understood to be vacant at the time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Reporter: “The fire is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are under way.

"Anyone who may have been in the area of Main Street, opposite the Vale of Leven Academy, in Alexandria, at around 10pm last night is asked to call police on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 3744 of 18 May 2020, if they saw or heard anything suspicious."
