CUSTOMERS and staff at the Co-operative Food supermarket in Helensburgh have given a generous boost to former armed forces personnel through a special raffle held to mark the anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
The in-store raffle was organised by staff at the Sinclair Street store to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, on May 8.
A total of £544 was raised for the Erskine charity, which cares for veterans at facilities in Erskine, Bishopton, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

With social distancing rules being respected, a representative of the charity visited the store on May 15 to collect the proceeds.
Thanking all the customers who contributed to the fund-raiser, Ela Latosi, a team manager at the store, said: “We thought it would be worth mentioning, especially these days, when we really need to highlight community efforts to support people in need.”
