A NEW clinical app has been trialled in the local health board area to help give frontline staff confidence to confront coronavirus patients.

The tool has been piloted at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde at the Linwood Community Centre, where nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, doctors and GPs have used it to treat suspected Covid-19 patients.

The app has taken around one month from the development to the pilot stage.

The technology encourages medical professionals to record specific symptoms, patients’ details and clinical decisions through a mobile device and desktop.

Stewart Irvine, chief executive of NHS Scotland, said: “This tool will undoubtedly make lives easier for frontline staff and make sure patients in Scotland get the best possible care.”

The app, designed using World Health Organisation guidelines, will be piloted in all NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Community Assessment Centres as part of the next stage.
