A LOCAL bike shop has received funding from a national bike charity to help support key workers commuting to work.

Cycleform, on Glasgow Road in Hardgate, received the grant from Cycle UK - a national charity supporting cyclists across the country.

With the new funding, CycleForm can now offer free bike services and repairs worth up to £40 for each key worker.

Veronica O’Donoghue, admin and development worker at Cycleform, told the Post: “It’s great as it’s enabled us to support more key workers, something that we were already committed to trying to do our best for.

“The support will be inclusive of all key workers and will need to be allocated on a first come, first serve basis until the funding runs out. We would really like to help local folk.”

Cycle UK’s ‘Bival for Key Workers’ scheme provides funding and support so that independent bike shops, recycling centres and bike mechanics can offer free services to key workers, helping them commute and improving their mental and physical health.
