WEST Dunbartonshire Leisure Active Schools their Young Sports Stars of the Month for May 2020.

The local network, which provides high quality opportunities for children and young people to be more active, more often, announced Felicity Kelly and Aran Machin who both attend Christie Park Primary School as this month’s winners.

A spokesperson at West Dunbartonshire Council said: “Felicity is eight years old, is visually impaired and an inspiration to all at Christie Park. She participates fully in all P.E lessons and is very confident in her ability to move around unaided, often leaving her Learning Assistants in her wake.

“Felicity recently started Cross-Country running and trains every week. Her determination shines through and she inspires pupils and school staff alike.”

“Aran is 10 years old and an exceptional swimmer, holding numerous swimming titles. Earlier in the year Aran was the only 10 year old in the Under-12 50 metre breast stroke race at the Scottish Schools Swimming Finals.

“He trains with West Dunbartonshire Swimming Club five times a week, with morning training beginning at 5am and evening training often not finishing until 8pm. Aran is very humble about his success but is committed to his sport.

“Congratulations to Felicity and Aran from Active Schools and all at West Dunbartonshire Leisure.”
