THE roof of a First Glasgow double-decker bus was destroyed after the vehicle ploughed into Dumbarton Central Station’s low bridge.

The dramatic incident flung debris over Townend Road next to the station just before 7am on Saturday. No-one was injured in the accident.

A First spokesperson commented: “There were no reported injuries from anybody on-board at the time or members of the public.

“The safety and well-being of our passengers, drivers and the public are our number one priority and we are conducting a full investigation to determine how this incident happened.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Police were called around 6.55am on Saturday, June 27 following the report of a one-vehicle road crash involving a double decker bus that had collided with a bridge on Townend Road, Dumbarton. There were no injuries as a result of the incident and a man has been reported for road traffic offences.”

The bridge has a height limit of 13 feet.
