WEST Dunbartonshire Council has asked Clydebank residents to be patient as local authority staff work their way through a backlog of grass-cutting jobs.

In a statement issued on the authority’s Facebook page, a spokesperson said: “Our grass cutting teams are working their way through the 3.5 million square metres of green spaces we have across West Dunbartonshire.

“We understand residents are keen to see the grass in their area cut.

“The safety of our employees is our priority and they are operating under strict physical distancing measures to protect them.

“This means the team sizes are much-reduced and it is taking significantly longer for them to complete the cuts.

“The service was unable to operate until half way through the season and the longer grass means some first cuts may appear uneven.

“This will improve with each subsequent cut.

“Please be assured that the team are working through each area. We would ask for your continued patience during this challenging time.”
