Three people, including an officer, have been hospitalised after an assault in Paisley on Friday.

Officers raced to the disturbance in Seedhill Road around 9.20pm on July 3. 

Two men, aged 33 and 36, were taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

The officer was also taken to hospital, and all three of the victims have been discharged after treatment. 

Another two men, aged 21 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident which took place on Seedhill Road.

The incident saw at least four police cars and a police van in Seedhill Road, mere days after another man was assaulted in the same street on July 1. 

However, officers confirmed there was nothing that suggested the two assaults were linked. 

The two men involved in Friday's incident are due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Two men, aged 21 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance on Seedhill Road in Paisley, which took place around 9.20pm on Friday, 3 July, 2020.

"Two men, aged 33 and 36, were taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital and discharged after treatment.

"An officer was assaulted during the incident and was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

"A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the two men are expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 July, 2020."
