EMPIRE Cinemas in Clydebank have reopened with several new social distancing measures in place.

Cinema screens have been allowed to reopen since the Scottish Government announcement on July 15, but many have taken several weeks longer to establish feasible distancing guidelines.

Empire reopened their Clydebank complex on Tuesday, August 25, but they are no longer accepting cash payments from customers – and punters can expect several other changes to their cinema experience.

Announcing their implementation of the government’s guidelines, the cinema posted on their social media channels: “We have introduced 10 great ways that we are making your cinema safer - bringing back the magic of the cinema screen.

“Remember, we are only accepting cashless payments, booking in advance is advisable.”

The photo posted alongside the comment showed social distancing in place; an online ordering system; additional cleaning; hand sanitizing stations; a smaller maximum capacity at showings; longer time between showings to allow for additional cleaning; PPE and protective screens in place and staff trained in ensuring they do not transmit germs.

Bankies visiting the cinema in Clyde Shopping Centre will also be expected to wear a face covering when entering and walking around the main foyer, and when entering and leaving screens.
