A VIBRANT Dumbarton fitness club has sold out of spaces in its debut classes as gym-goers are drawn to its exercise a difference.

Lynne Gorman set up her ‘Clubbercise Clydebank & Dumbarton with Lynne’ as a way for everyone to get out the lockdown blues through exercise with a twist - her classes incorporating music, disco lights, and glow sticks into each routine.

The first two classes, in Old Kilpatrick Bowling Club and then in Bellsmyre’s Cutty Sark Centre have already sold out.

Lynne told the Reporter: “Places are limited due to social distancing in the venues, so the first two Tuesdays are already full, but I did a free online taster class on the Thursday so everyone can see what it’s about.”

Lynne has been running children’s exercise classes for over 25 years and knew that when lockdown hit, she had to transfer her talents onto the older population in order to keep them fit and happy during what is a depressing stretch of time.

“I feel that people need a bit of fun back in their lives after everything we’ve been going through.” Lynne said. “I found Clubbercise is a fab way of keeping fit, the routines are easy to follow which means people can really let go and enjoy the music.

“Plus, the classes appeal to a wide range of people because they are so much fun it doesn’t feel like a workout. The classes are taught in a darkened room with disco lights and flashing glow sticks set to uplifting club tunes. We play anything from 90’s classics to the latest chart toppers.”

And Lynne admits she’s been blown away the response.

“I think everyone is just looking for a wee bit of normality and a bit of “me” time. The support for the classes has been overwhelming and very much appreciated.

“If everyone wants to try a workout that’s more like a night out then come along, you need to book in, either to the venues or from the comfort of their own home on Zoom.

“It’s a fab fun class for all abilities, and the best part is you get to dance about with glow sticks.”
