Largs Lifeboat were called out to assist in reports of a missing person near the shore.
The emergency call came through at 7pm on Thursday October 15 during an emergency training exercise for the local RNLI volunteers so they were on the scene within minutes.
RNLI spokesman Alasdair Woods said: "We were preparing to launch on exercise a request to carry out a search for a possible missing person somewhere south of Largs Pier was received, the lifeboat was on scene quickly. "There was an extensive hour long search was carried out and no one found he lifeboat was stood down at 8pm.
"During the search, coastguard rescue teams were also involved as they carried out a shoreline search.
Thereafter, the lifeboat volunteer crew then resumed their planned exercise training ."
