DRIVERS are being warned that the northbound Erskine Bridge will close overnight for six nights from this Thursday.

Trunk road maintenance firm Amey is carrying out essential maintenance worth £180,000 on the M898 to the south.

The northbound carriageway will be closed from 8pm to 6am each night from Thursday, November 5 until Tuesday, November 10, with the work due to be completed by 6am on Wednesday, November 11.

Outwith those hours, the bridge and its approach roads will be open as normal.

Motorists who would normally use the northbound Erskine Bridge to reach their destination should use the M8, A739 (Clyde Tunnel) and A82 (Great Western Road) instead during the closure periods.

Amey says the work is weather dependent, and "may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable".
