REFEREES at Vale of Leven physical education at dance department have recreated the joyous scenes witnessed last night after Scotland’s playoff match against Serbia.
The heroes defeated Serbia in penalties to book their place in an international competition for the first time in 23 years.
Scotland went ahead after Ryan Christie’s goal and for a while it looked like Scotland had done enough to secure their destiny, but with time almost up the Serbs equalised through a Luka Jović header from a corner, breaking hearts across the country.
The game was scoreless in extra-time before heading to penalties where David Marshall became the hero of a nation after saving Serbia’s final penalty from Aleksandar Mitrović.
And Vale of Leven’s senior referee volunteers recreated the iconic moments enjoyed across the country in a funny and moving clip where they lined up to sing the national anthem, recreated the final penalty kick and celebrated like the Scotland team once they realised the agonising 23-year wait was over.
