A CAR was deliberately set on fire on Castlegate Avenue in Dumbarton.

Police were called to the incident which occurred at around 9.15pm on December 30, where a Range Rover Sport motor vehicle was set alight. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no one was injured.

Following a joint investigation between Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue, the fire is being treated as wilful.

Detective Sergeant Jarvis of Clydebank Police Station said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt during this incident however it was nonetheless a deliberate and very dangerous act.

“It is of utmost importance that we trace anyone who is responsible, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to let us know as soon as possible.
