TWO women have been charged by police after they wererescued near the summit of Ben Lomond at the weekend as temperatures plunged to several degrees below zero across the area.

Members of the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team were called out at around 2.40pm on Saturday, January 23 to assist the two walkers to the foot of the mountain after they got into into difficulty in poor weather.

Neither of the women were injured, but both were subsequently charged by police with culpable and reckless conduct.

Under current lockdown restrictions, people are only allowed to leave their homes for essential purposes such as work, exercise (up to five miles from the boundary of your local authority area) or essential shopping under current lockdown restrictions.
