A BRAND-NEW coffee roasting plant is soon to be established in Renton, bringing the delights of coffee brewing to the community.

Pure Roasters is fronted by Robert Sanchez, ex-founder and manager of now defunct Dumbarton Big Sparra Music Café, and friend and business partner, Don Cunningham.

The new site will be found at Carman Stables, which is currently occupied by Jackie and the Beanstalk organic farm, meaning locals can pick up fresh coffee alongside salad boxes and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Robert told the Reporter: “I come from a background of sales and ran the Big Sparra Music brand for 10 years.

“During the morning meetings we would often discuss the coffee and I realised I was just as passionate about coffee as I was music.

“I learned all I can about the subject for years before starting the brand. We even spent a year using our weekends to attend farmer’s markets and doing desk research, so we had the absolute maximum amount of customer feedback before releasing our first coffee.

“Don Cunningham is the other director. He comes from a background of marketing and distribution.

“Coffee is a huge subject, and we don’t intend to ever stop learning about new happenings in the industry as well how our customer’s tastes develop.

“We’ve already had a great response from locals on the Only Way is Renton Facebook forum.

“As well as the warm welcome we’ll be looking to bring a few extra visitors to the area and get our beans stocked in the local businesses.”

Robert spoke about their eco-friendly way of working and how the coffee will be available from source for all.

He explained: “Because our aim for the roastery is to be completely waste free, we will actually enrich the farm we inhabit.

“The bi-product of our coffee roasts will be re-used using revolutionary systems to harness the exhaust gases for use in heating the building and our biodigester even provides fuel for the roaster and liquid fertilizer for the farm.

“Our big orange custom built roaster looks right at home in the converted stables and our new landlord couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating with the build.

“We can’t wait until we can take visitors in and sell them beans or grounds straight out of the oven.”

Coffee can be a daunting thing for anyone, with so many different aspects that go into the preparation, brewing and tasting of each coffee batch. However, Pure Roasters is here to help and insists that the roasting plant will be more than just a business.

Robert continued: “If you still drink instant coffee and find the grounds or beans a wee bit daunting then feel free to drop us a wee line for a chat.

“A lot of the speciality coffee world can be a bit insular but really all you need is a pot or a filter and you’re good to go.

“We’ve converted a lot of folk to the good stuff, come and meet us at events to smell and taste the difference with fresh, high quality ethical coffee beans.”
