THE charity which runs the Robin House children’s hospice in Balloch has said a heartfelt thanks to people in Dumbarton and the Vale, and beyond, after its annual festive appeal raised more than £400,000.

Among the stories featured in the CHAS advertising campaign for the appeal was that of the family of Jaxon Stars, who was born with Ohtahara syndrome and pontocerebellar hypoplasia.

Jaxon and his family were supported by the charity’s hospice and CHAS At Home teams until the tot died in February 2018, aged just 13 months.

Jaxon’s mum, Lisa Stars, said: “I am in awe at how much the CHAS Christmas campaign has raised and feel so honoured to have played a part in this in memory of Jaxon.

“We all miss him so much and being involved in the CHAS campaign was a wonderful tribute to him.

"My family also contributed by doing our own little fund-raiser in December to mark his birthday which raised over £500.

“I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us raise this astounding amount and supported us through a very busy December - we are overwhelmed and incredibly grateful.

“The need for our care is increasing and the pandemic is continuing to present tough challenges so this marks our most important campaign to date.”
