THE owners of the Blue Lagoon fish and chip shop chain have announced the purchase of a popular Balloch chippy - and with it plans to bring 20 jobs to the area.

The company has bought Palombo's on Balloch Road from owner Franco Palombo and plans to open a 60-seater restaurant and takeaway on the premises this summer.

The new owners say they plan to give the restaurant a tropical beached themed design.

The new chippy is looking to recruit up to 20 members of staff including managers, fish fryers, waiting staff and kitchen porters.

A spokesman said: "We are really excited and eager to get this branch open as we have always been very keen to open a Blue Lagoon branch as close to Loch Lomond as possible."

Blue Lagoon has been trading for over 45 years and has branches across Scotland - the Balloch restaurant will be their 15th.

The business is still run by its original owners, the Varese family.
