WITH the clocks set to go forward on Sunday, March 28 at 1am, we have laid out a few tips on how to still get a good night's sleep.

A system established in 1916, the clocks go forward to mark the swap from Daylight Savings Time to British Summer Time. There are many benefits to this, including the days being longer with more daylight meaning more Vitamin D, and according to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, there are less traffic accidents as the nights grow longer and visibility is increased.

However, the thought of Losing an hour's sleep is not great for anyone - adults and children alike, but with some forward planning it's easy to ease the affects of losing time in bed.

Here are some tips to make it feel a little better:

  • Head to bed a little earlier on the Sunday - an extra hour's sleep on the Sunday night can help make up for the lost hour the night before
  • Make sure you change the clocks the night before instead of the morning after, ensuring there's no confusion when you wake up
  • A Sunday afternoon nap could help with any fatigue you're feeling. Not too long though, or else you could be making yourself even more tired
  • Have a lie in! Yeah, a little bit of a cheat but why not have a lie in for an extra hour on the Sunday morning to make sure you are a little fresher

Those are our tips ahead of the clocks going forward, enjoy the extra daylight.
