Old footage has revealed the scenes in Dumbarton as people celebrated VE Day (Victory in Europe Day).

The 90-second clip entitled "VE Day celebrations in Dumbarton", was uploaded by YouTuber "PoppyscotlandEdu" to the popular streaming channel.

In the video, an old film camera captures people out celebrating in Dumbarton's streets, with children and adults alike taking to the streets to enjoy one of the most defining moments of history on May 8, 1945.

Masses of people are seen lining Dumbarton High Steet, with flags from countries all over the world hanging above them, following news of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Some 57,000 Scots, many of them from Dumbarton and the surrounding area, died on active service during the conflict.

Similar celebrations were seen in cities throughout the UK, USA and beyond after Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allied forces.
