THE Scottish SPCA is to partially reopen its Dumbarton animal rescue and rehoming centre to the public, more than a year after it shut due to the pandemic.

Along with the charity’s eight other centres across Scotland, the Milton centre will move from being completely closed to the public to allowing people in on an appointment only basis on Monday, May 17.

While online rehoming will remain the default approach, the society will now allow those without internet access or who can’t complete the application form online to call the centre on 03000 999 999 to arrange an appointment.

Members of the public will then be able to view suitable animals via a table at the centre and gain assistance from staff if needed.

Centre manager Judy Button said: “We’re delighted to start welcoming people back.

“We really hope these telephone appointments for rehoming will make the centre more accessible for everyone and help animals like Varys find their forever home.”

All available animals can also be viewed and applied for online at scottishspca.org/rehome/rehome.
