A DUMBARTON contact centre is giving back to the community through a charity initiative.

Since December 2020, Opos Ltd has selected an employee of the month to receive a £1,000 donation which is gifted to a charity of their choice.

And the firm plans to continue the scheme until the end of this year in a bid to help charities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ross Docherty, team leader at Opos Ltd, told the Reporter: “In December 2020, Opos made the decision to start an employee of the month campaign.

“Different stakeholders in the business put forward nominations of people who they think have had a particularly successful month for different reasons.

“They could be anyone across the business, from call handlers to senior members of staff in different departments.

“At the end of each month, there is a nomination for employee of the month, and that person gets to donate £1,000 to a local charity of their choice.

“We will be continuing the initiative until at least December 2021.

"It gives the employees that feel-good factor and it means they can give back to the community.”

Charitable organisations in the area which have received a cash boost include CHAS, which runs the Robin House children’s hospice in Balloch, Tullochan, and Dumbarton and District Women’s Aid.

Ross added: “Different employees have their own particular reasons for picking the charities and obviously believe it would be beneficial for them to receive the money.

“Dumbarton District Woman’s Aid sent a response thanking the employee for picking them which was really nice and they were very grateful.

“It’s been a tough time for everybody during Covid-19 but especially for charities so we’re glad to be able to help in this way.”
