VANDALS have caused "extensive damage" after setting an all-weather sports pitch at a Dumbarton school on fire - in the middle of the school day.
Police and firefighters were called to an incident at the astroturf pitch next to the main building at Our Lady and St Patrick's High school at 12.20pm on Friday, June 18.
Police say the playing surface, which is situated on a raised piece of land on the opposite side of the road from the school, was extensively damaged as a result of the attack, which is being treated as wilful fire-raising.
Police are appealing for witnesses; anyone with information is being asked to call 101.
Yesterday we reported there had been a Dumbarton children's playpark that was torched by firebugs.
