A LOCAL rugby club has been awarded a four figure sum after gaining a special status in a national initiative.
Beating strong competition from over 130 entries, Loch Lomond Rugby Club won £1,000 after receiving Champion Club status in the Royal Bank RugbyForce initiative, and will receive the prize ahead of special rugby-packed weekend on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8.
The weekend typically sees rugby clubs across Scotland host a range a pre-season events, such as volunteer DIY and Community Fun Days, raising awareness of the positive impact that Scotland’s grassroots clubs have within their local areas.
Malcolm Buchanan, chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland's Scotland board, said: “Loch Lomond Rugby Club thoroughly deserve their Royal Bank RugbyForce award win having delivered some vital work in their local community throughout the pandemic.”
